Tonight was opening night of
The Crucible in the Arapahoe High School theatre. This play, written by Mr. Arthur Miller, is the fall company production, the shows put on by the advanced acting class. These shows are also the major (read: only) fundraisers for the Drama Club. A portion of the proceeds from the fall show goes to the Coalition for the Homeless, so while we're helping ourselves, we're also helping some cold hobos.
Now that you know all about Company productoins, back to the topic at hand...
This show was cursed.
No, really, it was. Yesterday, during notes, Mr. Earley made a reference to how fortunate we were to not have been visited by the Theatre Ghost on this production. Then, this evening, about ten minutes to curtain, while we're all preparing for the opener, I looked up from my task at hand, gettting the hanging condensers working so that we could actually tell where the fark we were in the show, I looked up and noticed a light on the stage that didn't seem like it belonged in the pre-show set. Then I looked at the screen for the board, and I knew we had problems, because it wasn't showing as on, so I knew it was ghosting.
It was udder pandimonium in the booth while we were fantically trying to get Brad to fix it. Finally, we called his cell phone and he went to check it out, then he just decided to yank the dimmer. So, we didn't have that channel or the adjacant channel available tonight, which cause no major problems.
We pulled everything else off until we came to the cue for the noose, when the noose was in, but not in far enough: it couldn't be seen by the audience
or us nerds in the booth.
